My Top 5 Sneakers That Will Be Big In 2014

A new year but the same sneaker fetish for the real foot wear lovers world wide and I myself have been rubbing my mixed race hands together in anticipation for the beauts that will dominate urban/contemporary culture this year.

2013 was a great calender year for footwear comebacks and modern triumphs as Black Timberland’s proved to be necessary, Balenciaga’s became royalty and Jordan’s won on every retro they managed to release. This year though the game will change and modern designs mixed with classics are set to take center stage, so I’ve predicted the 5 sneakers that will be big in 2014 in no particular order.

Check the kicks after the jump…

1) Adidas Stan Smith

The Stan Smith is an iconic original that has stood the test of time. Many of the young whipper snappers of today didn’t know that Stan was in fact a tennis player, they simply thought that this was just the name of the shoe. I was at the adidas HQ in London last month and they are putting a lot into the Stan Smith in 2014 so expect this timeless piece to make a strong come back.

2) Nike Air Max Lunar90

These bad boys are meannnn. Nike have got to work over the last 2 years and have people coming up with designs left, right and center. A lot of the Ice and Lunar series combined with classics such as the Air Max 90 and Air Max 1 will be doing damage this year but the Air Max Lunar90 will be a hit. Visually aesthetic and virtually featherweight on the feet, these kicks are a must have in 2014.

3) Buscemi 100mm

Jon Buscemi started off working at DC shoes then helped launch Gourmet which is becoming a heavy hitter in the market place and now he has his own HIGH-end range BUSCEMI which had an exciting end to 2013. Although these beauts are virtually impossible to find with only a handful of stockists worldwide, the reputation is growing and so is the demand. Look out for these expensive one-aways this year.

4) Puma Disc Blaze

Puma had a great come back year in 2013 with their Puma Suede’s being one of the most significant classic purchases of last year. They also put in the work on a mainstream level by securing a multi-million pound sponsorship deal with Arsenal FC and even supported the urban scene with their Worn My Way campaigns which sponsor an event I host called Acoustic Afternoon.

The Disc Blaze is set to rule this year and with the Ronnie Feig collab on the horizon, I can see this shoe being everywhere.

5) Air Jordan 6 Infra-Red

Last but not least on my list is the Air Jordan 6. Now Jordan can never be wrote off (even if the whole urban population is demolishing them) because of sexies like these. The Infra-Red 6’s are a staple and a must have in any one’s wardrobe. In 2014, 6’s will make a come back but there’s only 1 colour that will suffice and it’s this. Varsity red’s don’t fly either, it’s either infra-red or they’re dead.
