Met Gala 2014 | Red Carpet Photos

The annual Met Gala took place last night in New York. As usual all the biggest stars in the world were out in full force wearing their best gear for this prestigious event put on by Anna Wintour.

There were a lot of strong contenders this year including Kimye in Lanvin outfits, Tom Brady and Gisele B√ľndchen in Balenciaga and The Carters in Givenchy. However I have to say that David and Victoria Beckham stole the show in Ralph Lauren and Victoria’s own collection. We all know Becks can pretty much pull off anything but this suit is so slick it’s taken him to 007 levels.

DJ Khaled – They Don’t Love You No More (ft. Jay-Z, French Montana, Meek Mill & Rick Ross)

DJ Khaled is back on his BS with his latest single “The Don’t Love You No More” and he’s brought a star studded line up of Meek Mill, Rick Ross, Jay-Z and French on the hook.

Although the production is extremely strong, this is no where near the summer anthem we have come to expect from DJ Khaled. Replacing Drake with Hov so that Hov can get 1 up on Drake was a dud move IMO. Khaled’s biggest hit “I’m On One” was only hot because of Drake. Take him out the equation and you have a mediocre track ladies and gentlemen.

Jay Electronica x Jay-Z – We Made It | New Music

Wow! out of nowhere Jay Electronica keeps the fire coming with this “We Made It” freestyle featuring his Roc Nation label head Jay-Z.

Hov steals the shine from Electronica on this one as he makes a direct reference to Drake’s comments about him in the recent Rolling Stone article; “Sorry Mr Drizzy for so much art talk, silly me talking about shit that I really bought”.

Ouch! Will Drizzy respond though?

Daft Punk – Computerized (ft. Jay-Z) New Music

An unreleased track has found its way onto the web from electro duo Daft Punk and Roc Nation general Jay-Z. The cut was supposed to appear on their Grammy award winning album Random Access Memories but surprisingly I’m glad it didn’t.

Although the track is co-produced by Kanye West, I don’t think it does Hov’s style any justice. Sometimes the unearthed “gems” should remain unearthed.

56th Annual Grammy Awards | Red Carpet Photos

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards are set to take place tonight in Los Angeles and musics biggest stars are hitting the red carpet in a chic way. Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake are among the few artists who are up for multiple gongs at this years ceremony.

Out of the lads, Miguel slayed his look with shiny Saint Laurent trousers and shoes but the biggest shock was Pharrell’s fit which looked like a cross between a forest ranger and a b-boy dancer. The producer/artist who is usually always dapper chose to take a risk and it back fired IMO.

Rick Ross – The Devil Is A Lie (ft. Jay-Z) New Music

As promised Rozay delivers the stand out track off his new LP entitled The Devil Is A Lie featuring the unstoppable mogul Jay-Z. His album Mastermind has been pushed back to 2014 as expected but this will keep his fans pleased in the mean time.

56th Annual Grammy Awards 2014 | Nominations Revealed

It’s that time of the year again where the music industries elite gather to see who the nominees are for the annual Grammy awards. Jay-Z leads the pack for 2014 with 9 nods despite having a rather mediocre album. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams and Justin Timberlake all got 7 each.

The most interesting category for me though is Best Rap Album. “Yeezus” made the cut along with Drake’s “NWTS” but J. Cole’s “Born Sinner” got overlooked. Tragic.

Trapstar Confirm Deal With Roc Nation

West London native clothing brand Trapstar have become an urban forced to be reckoned within fashion over the last few years. Stars such as Rihanna, Cara Delevingne, Rita Ora and more have helped catapult the niche brand to a global market and thus have caught the attention of one mogul in particular, Jay-Z.

When it comes to business ventures this guy doesn’t play and he’s spotted the potential in this bespoke brand. There’s no doubt in my mind the capability of the Trapstar brand however the beauty of this label was in its exclusivity. If it goes global and lines department stores such as Selfridges and Barney’s, will it loose it’s core fan base and even worse, its identity? Who knows? What I do know though is that this is a huge power move.
